Have You Tried Google’s Knol Yet?

Knol stands for knowledge. It’s Google’s new experiment where they invite you to be the expert. Sound familiar? I’ve only created one Knol so far. It’s on Couple’s Wedding Showers. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I think Knol is more like Hubpages than Squidoo. With Knol you’re basically writing an article, and adding tags and photos if you want to. You can opt to have Google Adsense ads running in the side margin, and you get paid for anyone who clicks on an ad.

You can also add links back to your own blog, or affiliate links in the body of your article, as long as they’re relevant, and not spammy.

I like Knol well enough I’m sure I’ll be writing more articles there soon. I’m waiting to see how quickly my Couples Shower Knol gets indexed and starts getting traffic. I guess you could call it an experiment. I’m sure I’ll do a little more experimenting. I know enough from Squidoo to understand not everything takes off and gets a ton of traffic. But some things do:)

I think of it as another great way to get what I know out there, and another medium to tie together with my blogs, Squidoo lenses, social networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and articles (and the occasional Hubpage I make).

Have you tried Knol? What do you think? Share your knowledge here:)
